FAQs

Who can attend?

Q: Who can attend a Cochrane Colloquium?
A: Anyone with an interest in health research and using evidence for health decisions.

Q: Can my spouse, partner or carer attend?
A: Yes. Anyone wishing to attend the Colloquium must pay a registration fee. There are social events and tours that an accompanying person can participate in during the Colloquium. Tickets are sold on a first-come first-served basis. These options are available during registration and payment.

Q: Are there child-minding services available at or near the Colloquium venue?
A: We are not planning to provide child-minding services.

Travelling to the UK

Q: I’m not a UK citizen. Do I need special documentation to enter the UK and attend this conference?
A: Entry requirements vary depending on your country of citizenship. More information can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/check-uk-visa

Q: Can I receive a discount on my travel fare?
A: No. 

Registration

Q: Can I pay my registration fee at the Colloquium?
A: No. All fees must be paid up front, either with a valid credit card using our online registration and payment system, or by bank transfer/invoice. Fees must be paid by 17 August 2018.

Q: Is the registration fee refundable?
A: Conference registration cancellations received in writing before 3 August 2018 will be refunded in full, less an administration fee. See Registration Guidelines for more details.

Q: I only plan on attending one day of the Colloquium. Can I pay for one day only?
A: Yes. Options for day registration will be available via the online registration form.

Q: Several of my colleagues and I are registering for the Colloquium. Is there a special group rate?
A: No, only individual registration is available.

Abstract and workshop submissions

Q: I already have a Colloquium account. Can I reuse my e-mail and login information?
A: You will need to login using your Cochrane Account login or if you are new to Cochrane, create a new Cochrane Account.

Q: If I submit an abstract but do not receive a confirmation email, how will I know if it went through?
A: Log in to your Colloquium account and click ‘My submissions’ in the menu on the left side of the screen. This page will list any content you have submitted and will update you on its status. If your submission is not listed, please email abstracts@cochrane.org and ask for confirmation.

Q: If I miss the abstract submission deadline, will you accept late submissions?
A: No. The call for abstracts will close on Friday 2 March 2018. If you are unable to submit your abstract due to technical difficulties with the Colloquium website, please email abstracts@cochrane.org.

Q: If my abstract is accepted, but I can no longer attend the Colloquium, can I send someone to present in my place?
A: Yes. You have until Friday 17 August 2018 to advise the event organizers of a substitute a Please email abstracts@cochrane.org if you are unable to present at the Colloquium.

Certification/credits

Q: Will I receive Continuing Medical Education credits for attending the Colloquium?
A: No.

Q: Will I receive a certificate of attendance for the Colloquium?
A: Yes. Attendees will be able to download an attendance certificate from their Colloquium account, once the Colloquium is in progress.

Accommodation and getting around

Q: Do I need to book my own hotel room?
A: Yes. Colloquium attendees must arrange their own accommodation. Convention Edinburgh has negotiated rates for the Cochrane Colloquium 2018 and is pleased to offer a free online accommodation booking service to attendees. You can find details and make your booking through the Hotels & Accommodation page.

Future Cochrane Colloquia

Q: Where and when will the 2019 Colloquium be held?
A: The Colloquium will be held in Santiago, Chile, dates to be confirmed.
