Abstract:
Background:
Cochrane's 'Knowledge Translation' is the process of ensuring our evidence reaches the people who need it the most, ensuring high-quality, trusted information is made accessible to decision-makers in the format they need it: the right reviews, in the right format, to the right audiences. We want to make Cochrane evidence accessible and useable to help global health decision-makers to access it more easily so that it can be used more effectively in their work.
One of the six over-arching themes of the Cochrane Knowledge Translation Framework is 'Packaging, push and support to implementation'. This theme includes a range of interactive approaches to packaging our content to ensure our users receive and can act on our reviews. This theme is supported by the Working Group Package 'Upscaling and improving existing products': a programme of work bridging production, dissemination and support to implementation through creating fit-for-purpose reviews and disseminating these effectively.
Objectives:
In this workshop we will do the following:
- Provide an outline and greater understanding of the four KT audiences and what we know about their needs as ultimate end users of Cochrane evidence - those making decisions about health. In many cases, we access our audiences through intermediaries such as journalists and guideline developers.
- Share learning resources about products for dissemination, learning which package/product is more effective for presenting evidence from Cochrane Reviews to suit different stakeholder needs.
- Learn which disseminative activities and products work in multi-lingual contexts and the ways Cochrane Reviews and products can support the uptake of evidence in non-English speaking countries.
- Hear specific examples and experiences from global science news editors and correspondents and their perspectives on the best techniques for packaging content for effective 'cut-through' for media outlets. How can evidence-based stories lead the headlines?

The session will engage participants in discussing 'real-world' examples from global and regional contexts, effective dissemination strategies and what we can learn from them, and the approaches Cochrane Groups can take to strengthen their engagement with KT (intermediary) audiences in supporting the accessibility and usability of evidence.
